Lights In The Attic

28/01/2008

Attic Lights release their debut single for Island Records, Never Get Sick Of The Sea, on February 4th 2008. This follows the Glasgow based 5-piece’s self-released debut 7”, God, which came out on Hey Hey Records in late 2007. The single will be released on 7” and CD. The CD features the B side People Say and the Never Get Sick Of The Sea video and the 7” includes Sorry I was Drunk.

Recorded in their native Glasgow and produced by Francis Macdonald of Teenage Fanclub, the single is taken from their debut album which is set for release on Island Records in June 2008. Having formed just over two years ago and inspired by the likes of The Beach Boys, Go-Betweens, Flaming Lips and Guided By Voices the band have already enjoyed considerable acclaim in Scotland courtesy of their soaring vocal harmonies and moments of perfect pop.

Performances on BBC 2’s Culture Show, BBC Radio Scotland, XFM Scotland, BBC Scotland’s The Music Show, a variety of glowing Scottish press mentions and a storming performance on the T Break Stage at last year’s T In The Park have marked them down as one of Scotland’s the most promising bands for ’08. The summer of ’07 saw the band record much of their debut album with help from Bjorn Yttling (Peter, Bjorn & John) who provided startling string arrangements on tracks such as Wendy, Bring You Down and Late Night Sunshine. The band will announce a UK tour in early ’08. The band are currently set to play King Tuts in Glasgow on February 6th 2008.

Attic Lights are: Kevin Sherry (vocals / guitar), Colin McArdle (vocals / bass), Jamie Houston (guitar / vocals), Tim Davidson (guitar) & Noel O’Donell (drums / vocals).
