New on the terraces for 2008: One Night Only

North Yorkshire five-piece, One Night Only release their second single Just For Tonight on 21st January, followed by their debut album Started A Fire on the 28th January on Vertigo. Just For Tonight is an epic, balls out, indie rock anthem that is already looking set to storm the charts. Debut single You And Me snapped at the heels of the top 40 when it was released in October, and picked up playlists on Radio 1, Xfm, Virgin Xtreme, Capital FM and 6Music, a remarkable achievement for what was the bands first ever release. Started A Fire, produced by the legendary Steve Lilywhite (U2, Morrissey) is a fine blend of classic songwriting and jaunty melodic bounce that will establish One Night Only as the band of 2008.

Formed in 2003, when singer George was just 12, One Night Only started out as a bunch of school friends ‘just making noise’ in their rural hometown of Helmsley, North Yorkshire. They went on to spend the following two years tearing the vaulted roof off the local scene. It was only a matter of time before One Night Only broke out of Helmsley. They knuckled down, wrote some songs and last October Steve Lamacq began spinning the demo of You And Me, prompting the band to start taking themselves seriously. The teenagers quickly became subject of a fierce A&R battle and signed to Vertigo, home of The Killers and Razorlight, in March 2007.

One Night Only have been touring throughout 2007, supporting the likes of The Enemy, The Coral, The Rifles and an extensive tour with The Pigeon Detectives. They have just announced their first headline tour which kicks off in Cardiff on December 3rd. One Night Only have also been confirmed to play Xfm’s Winter Wonderland alongside Kate Nash, Supergrass and Bloc Party on the 9th December and Jo Whiley’s Little Noise Session with The Kooks and The Pigeon Detectives on the 24th November.
