Pills, Thrills and Jellybeans...

11/06/2007

The Manchester legends return with Jellybean the debut single from Uncle Dysfunktional their first new album since the release of “Yes Please” in 1992. Jellybean displays all the familiar hallmarks of a Mondays hit; blaring samples and laid back grooves beneath Shaun’s street savvy, cartoon lyrics delivered in the true deviant style his fans love him for. He remains true to the title of modern day poet. The track was produced by US hiphop producer Sunny Levine, son of jazz producer Stuart Levine and grandson of the great Quincy Jones. It was mixed by Bjork and U2 producer Howie B.

Over the past 15 years Shaun has been writing and recording not only for his own bands Black Grape and Happy Mondays but was recently featured on the Gorillaz number One hit ‘Dare’. He has also found a new kind of high in the form of exercise, steering clear of the drugs that have monopolised his life for so many years. Despite this new found lifestyle Whilst Shaun focused on his health, Bez won over the hearts of the nation by winning Celebrity Big Brother in 2005 proving that the Happy Mondays are still one of Britain’s most loved bands.
